NWCF: new website, new fundraiser event

  • New Website: https://www.nwcf.ca/

  • New Fund-Raiser: That Pottery Thing

  • NWCF Mayer Wosk Award of Excellence – Artists and Patrons - Nominations are now open for the NWCF Mayer Wosk Award worth $5000.00. Please see our website here and consider filing out an application.

The Board of NWCF is thrilled to share the news that the Wosk Family Foundation will be providing some ongoing support to the NWCF in recognition of our educational and charitable projects. This generous act has already allowed us to create a new, more interactive website www.nwcf.ca that in turn enables the NWCF to expand our endeavour in supporting ceramic education excellence, and accessibility around ceramics in BC.

NWCF is optimistically planning a new fundraiser – a combination virtual and in-person event. Previously known as From Oven and Kiln and held at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club, this years’ event will be held at the Mayer Studio at 1000 Parker Street, September 30th, 2021, from 6:00 pm and has become That Pottery Thing… an enjoyable evening with in-person guests at the Mayer Studio along with virtual attendees. A live Zoom will broadcast the evenings’ events for virtual attendees as well as hover over the Silent Auction. There will be presentations about our charitable activities, raffles, an open bar and circulating tasty treats. The highlight event of the evening will be the NWCF Award, now identified as the NWCF Mayer Wosk Award– in honour of both Carol Mayer, who founded the Award, and the Wosk Family Foundation.

Our host for the evening will be the ever gracious and knowledgeable Sheryl MacKay of the CBC North-by-Northwest fame. Sheryl, a Craft Council of BC - Citizen of Craft recipient, has been supportive of Craft in BC for many years and we are delighted she will be with us.

In years past, an exciting and fun highlight of the evening has been that every guest takes home a dessert plate generously donated by BC potters. We expect to carry on that tradition again this year

In the event that we cannot meet in person That Pottery Thing… will take place on Zoom on September 30th. All information and the auction catalogue will be on the website: https://www.nwcf.ca/that-pottery-thing/

No matter what the circumstances, we look forward to hosting this special event, in some form, on September 30th . Stay Tuned!

Tickets for That Pottery Thing will go live when Pandemic guidelines have been confirmed.

If a live event is permitted, In-Person tickets will be issued on a first Come - first Serve basis.

$75.00 for In-Person guests

$25.00 for Zoom / Online guests (unlimited)

A Tax receipt for charitable donation will be issued for a portion of each ticket.
